Trisha - Beauty queen, model, actress
She may be a debutant in films, but Trisha is not new to glamour or the arch lights. For, she has acted in quite a few commercials, and has endorsed numerous products. And she has also won the Ms. Chennai crown and the Ms. Beautiful title at the Ms. India Pageant. It's but natural that she would be wooed by film makers. Trisha who said no to many offers couldn't resist the one that came from ace director Priyadarshan. She signed his 'Leysa Leysa' with Shaam as her pair. And since then she has signed four films in quick succession, even before a single film in which she acts has been released. A profile of the beauty-queen and model-turned-actress and some little known facts about her.
Trisha's ancestors hail from Palghat, and her mother is from Mumbai. Trisha is a Chennaite, born and brought up here, with her schooling done at Church Park Convent. A third year student of BBA at Ethiraj College, Chennai, Trisha's touch with glamour began when she took part in the fashion show at Salem where she was judged 'Ms. Salem Steel City' in 1999. The same year she took part in the 'Ms. Chennai' contest, and won the crown. And in 2001 at the Ms. India beauty pageant, Trisha bagged the title for 'Ms. Beautiful Smile'.
It was not long before film-makers made a beeline to her door. Though Trisha rejected these offers, one which she could not decline was Priyadarshan's offer to play the lead in his 'Leysa Leysa' with Shaam as her leading man. It was the remake of a successful Malayalam film, and the role was one which any debutant would wish for. And of course there was Priyadarshan, one of Trisha's favourite directors. Soon the actress was flooded with offers and selected some of those she found challenging. A rare case where a debutant signs five films even before a single one is released!
